How to create this QR code

    Open the final destination in a browser and copy its complete public URL, including the path and any parameters you need.

  2. 2

    Paste the address into Website address. Leave Scan tracking off to encode that URL directly, or sign in to use a Scanfolk tracking link.

  3. 3

    Customize the QR and download PNG, SVG, PDF, or EPS. Scan the exported file and compare the opened address with your intended destination.

What scanners receive

A direct URL QR contains the address you enter, including its path, query parameters, and fragment. A scanner opens it in a browser or another handler chosen by the device. Redirects and sign-in requirements at the destination still apply. With Scan tracking on, the QR contains a Scanfolk short link instead and depends on that hosted redirect.

Good fits

  • A product page or campaign URL with your existing UTM parameters
  • A public menu or document that you already host
  • A booking or support page that works for visitors without your login

Before you publish or print

  • Use the intended http:// or https:// protocol. Check the domain, page path, and spelling before downloading.
  • Open the destination in a private browser window or on another phone. A QR does not make a private document public or bypass a login.
  • If the address redirects, check the final page as well as the encoded URL. An expired destination cannot be repaired by changing the QR design.
  • Shorter addresses can produce a less dense QR. Keep parameters that you actually need, and preserve the clear border when placing the code.

Common questions

Can I include UTM parameters or a link to a specific section?

Yes. Include the complete query string or #fragment in the address. Test the final scan to check that your destination handles it as intended.

Does this upload or host my menu or PDF?

No. Use a public URL for a file or page you already host. The QR stores a link; it does not upload the document or change access permissions.

Can I change the link after downloading?

A direct QR contains the original URL, so a different encoded address requires a new QR file. If you control the existing destination, you can update that page without changing its address. Scan tracking records scans through a hosted link; it does not provide a public destination-editing feature.

Will the QR open the site directly?

With Scan tracking off, it contains your URL without a Scanfolk redirect. Your destination may still redirect or ask visitors to sign in. Opening the website requires connectivity.
